Open Question: British singers bands sounding American when they sing?

I saw a question earlier asking why do British singers and bands such asThe Beatles, Queen, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Adele, Amy Winehouse sound American. But Am I the only one who can hear they are English from a mile away? I mean The Beatles, Queen, Coldplay, Pink Floyd and Oasis especially sound like they are talking in their songs, that's how strong their accent is. The only British bands who I admit sounds slightly American is The Rolling Stones and The Who and some singers like Leona Lewis and Jessie J also sound slightly American sometimes when they sing even though they are British. I don't think they mean to though, maybe that's just how they sing? Maybe I can tell because I'm English myself? :\ I can tell straight up with a person is singing with a British accent, their voice is too low to be American. Their accent comes through. American accent just rolls off the tongue more. (Sorry if this is long). The Beatles - Let It Be Queen - I Want To Break Free Coldplay - Paradise Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Oasis - Wonderwall If anyone listens to them English songs and say that the singers sound American then they do NOT know the differences between accents. Piratemom- Just because APPARENTLY they get their influences from Blues does not mean that they are American or sound American. The Beatles basically invented Pop music, it's like us Brits saying that all American pop stars now try and be British and sound British. We don't, because at the end of the day, they are American. Most of these artists I'm naming probably got their influences from BRITISH bands before them. (For example, Oasis said that their influence was The Beatles). I feel like Americans and Australians always try and claim our countries bands and it's annoying. Even The Bee Gees were BRITISH but Australians try and claim them as Australian just because they lived in Australia for a few years even though they were born and raised in UK and have English accents. Also, AC/DC, every member is either Scottish or English so they are a British band but Australians claim that they are Australian because they lived there for a few years. How does that even work? The Pretenders, The Killers and The Jimi Hendrix Experience all formed their bands in London, we don't call them British.... Read More »
